The Chart Advanced Settings window provides additional options to manage chart layout, text wrapping, positioning, and accessibility settings.
Follow the steps below to open the Chart Advanced Settings window.
- Select the chart in the document.
- Click the Chart Design tab.
- Select Advanced Settings. The Chart - Advanced Settings window opens.
- The user can customize it using the following tab:
Layout
The Layout section allows users to configure chart titles, legends, and data label settings.

| Chart Title | Select the display position of the chart title. |
| Legend | Select the legend position within the chart. |
| Data Labels | Display data labels on chart data points. |
| Series Name | Display the series name within data labels. |
| Category Name | Display category names within data labels. |
| Value | Display data values within data labels. |
| Data Labels Separator | Specify the separator used between displayed data label elements. |
Text Wrapping
The Text Wrapping section controls how document text interacts with the selected chart.
Available Wrapping Styles

| In Line with Text | Places the chart within the text flow. |
| Square | Wraps text around the chart boundary. |
| Tight | Wraps text closely around the chart. |
| Through | Allows text to flow through transparent areas. |
| Top and Bottom | Places text above and below the chart. |
| In Front of Text | Displays the chart in front of the document text. |
| Behind Text | Displays the chart behind the document text. |
Distance from Text
Use the following fields to adjust chart spacing from surrounding text:
- Top
- Bottom
- Left
- Right
Position
The Position section allows users to precisely place charts within the document.
Horizontal Position
Configure the chart position using:
- Alignment
- Position
- Relative Position
- Relative To options
Vertical Position
Configure the chart position using:
- Alignment
- Position
- Relative Position
- Relative To options
Additional Options

| Allow Overlap | Allows the chart to overlap with other document objects. |
Alternative Text
The Alternative Text section allows users to add accessibility information for charts.

| Description | Provides a text description of the chart content. |
Alternative text helps users with visual or cognitive impairments understand chart information using screen readers and other accessibility tools.
- Some layout and positioning options may vary depending on the selected chart type and wrapping style.
- Alternative text improves document accessibility and compliance.
- Use Data Labels to display chart values directly within the chart.
- Use Legend positioning to improve chart readability when multiple series are displayed.
- Add Alternative Text to improve accessibility and document usability.
