Table Advanced Settings

The Table Advanced Settings window provides additional options to configure table size, cell properties, borders, positioning, text wrapping, and accessibility settings. These settings allow users to customize table behavior and appearance beyond what the standard Table Settings panel offers.

Follow the steps below to open the Table Advanced Settings window.

  1. Select the table you want to modify.
  2. Open the Table Settings panel on the right side of the editor.
  3. Click Show Advanced Settings. The Table - Advanced Settings window opens.
  4. Refer to the desired section and follow the instructions:

  5. Once all changes are made, click OK to apply the changes.

    ℹ️ Notes
    Table positioning and text wrapping settings may affect the appearance of surrounding content.

Table

The Table tab allows users to configure overall table size and default table settings.

Option Description
Width Specifies the width of the table.
Measure In Selects the unit of measurement used for table sizing.
Automatically Resize to Fit Contents Automatically adjusts the table width based on cell content.
Default Cell Margins Sets the default top, bottom, left, and right margins for all table cells.
Spacing Between Cells Adds spacing between adjacent table cells.
ℹ️ Notes
When Automatically Resize to Fit Contents is enabled, column widths may expand or shrink as content is added or modified.

Cell

The Cell tab allows users to configure individual cell properties and content behavior.

Option

Description
Preferred Width Specifies the width of the selected cell or cells.
Measure In Selects the unit of measurement used for cell sizing.
Use Default Margins Applies the default table margins to the selected cells.
Cell Margins Sets custom top, bottom, left, and right margins for the selected cells.
Wrap Text Wraps content within the cell boundaries.

Disable Use Default Margins to configure custom margins for individual table cells.

Borders & Background

The Borders & Background tab allows users to customize table borders and background colors.

Option

Description
Border Size Selects the thickness of the border line.
Border Color Selects the border color.
Border Selection Applies borders to specific areas of the table.
Table Background Applies a background color to the selected table or cells.
ℹ️ Notes
Border and background settings can be applied to the entire table or to specific table sections, depending on the selected border configuration.

Table Position

The Table Position tab allows users to control a table's placement within the document.

Option

Description
Horizontal Alignment Aligns the table horizontally relative to the page, margin, or other reference point.
Horizontal Position Specifies an exact horizontal position for the table.
Vertical Alignment Aligns the table vertically relative to the page, margin, or other reference point.
Vertical Position Specifies an exact vertical position for the table.
Move Object with Text Moves the table together with the surrounding text.
Allow Overlap Allows the table to overlap other document objects.
ℹ️ Notes
Table Position options are available only when the selected text wrapping style supports table positioning.

Text Wrapping

The Text Wrapping tab allows users to control how surrounding text interacts with the table.

Option

Description
Wrapping Style Specifies how text wraps around the table.
Table Alignment Aligns the table to the left, center, or right side of the page.
Indent from Left Sets the distance between the table and the left margin.

Wrapping Styles

Style

Description
Inline Places the table directly within the text flow.
Flow Allows the surrounding text to wrap around the table.
ℹ️ Notes
Some positioning options become available only when the Flow wrapping style is selected.

Alternative Text

The Alternative Text tab allows users to add accessibility information to a table.

Option

Description
Title Specifies a short name for the table.
Description Provides a detailed explanation of the table content and purpose.

Alternative text helps users who rely on screen readers understand the information contained within the table.

  • Use automatic resizing when table content changes frequently.

  • Add alternative text to tables that contain important information to improve accessibility.
