The Formatting Styles option allows users to quickly apply predefined text and paragraph styles to document content. Styles help maintain consistent formatting across headings, titles, quotes, lists, and other document sections.
Follow the steps below to apply a formatting style.
- Select the text or place the cursor within the paragraph you want to format.
- Click the Home tab.
- In the Styles section, select the desired style from the style gallery.
- Click the style to apply it to the selected content. The selected formatting style is applied immediately.
- The user can also perform the following action in the style menu. Click the desired option and follow the instructions:
Available Formatting Styles
The Styles gallery includes predefined formatting options such as:

| No Spacing | Applies standard text formatting without additional paragraph spacing. |
| Heading 1 - Heading 9 | Applies heading styles for document sections and subsections. |
| Title | Applies document title formatting. |
| Subtitle | Applies subtitle formatting. |
| Quote | Formats content as a quotation. |
| Intense Quote | Applies emphasized quote formatting. |
| Emphasis | Highlights text with emphasis formatting. |
| Strong | Applies strong emphasis formatting. |
| Book Title | Formats text as a book title. |
| Caption | Formats image, table, or object captions. |
| Header | Applies header formatting. |
| Footer | Applies footer formatting. |
| Footnote Text | Formats footnote content. |
| List Paragraph | Applies formatting for list-based content. |
Create a New Style
Users can create custom styles based on selected content formatting.
Steps to Create a New Style:
- Format the text as required.
- Open the Styles gallery.
- Click New Style from Selection.
- Enter a style name in the Title field.
- Select the preferred option from the Next Paragraph Style list.
- Click OK. The new style is added to the style gallery.
Update an Existing Style
Users can update an existing style using the current text formatting.
Steps to Update a Style:
- Format the text as required.
- Open the Styles gallery.
- Right-click the style you want to update.

Select Update from Selection. The selected style is updated using the current formatting.
