The Nonprinting Characters and Hidden Table Borders options help users view hidden formatting elements within a document. These options can be used to troubleshoot formatting issues, review document structure, and work more effectively with tables and paragraph formatting.
Show or Hide Nonprinting Characters
Follow the steps below to display or hide nonprinting characters:
- Open the document in the Healthicity Document Editor.
- Click the Home tab.
- In the Paragraph section, click the Nonprinting Characters (¶) drop-down menu.
- Select Nonprinting Characters. The formatting marks are displayed within the document.
- Select Nonprinting Characters again to hide the formatting marks.
- Common Nonprinting Characters:

|---|---|
| ¶ | Indicates the end of a paragraph. |
| · | Represents a space between words. |
| → | Represents a tab character. |
| ↵ | Represents a manual line break. |

Nonprinting characters are visible only while editing and are not included when the document is printed, downloaded, or exported.
Show or Hide Hidden Table Borders
Follow the steps below to display or hide hidden table borders.
- Open the document in the Healthicity Document Editor.
- Click the Home tab.
- In the Paragraph section, click the Nonprinting Characters (¶) drop-down menu.
- Select Hidden Table Borders. The hidden table borders are displayed within the document.

Select Hidden Table Borders again to hide the table gridlines.
