Exception Analysis

Use the Exception Analysis section to evaluate disclosure details and determine whether the incident qualifies for further breach risk assessment review. The displayed questions adjust automatically based on the selected disclosure type.

Follow the steps below to complete the Exception Analysis:

1. Select one or more disclosure types:

   • Electronic
   • Paper
   • Verbal

2. Review the questions displayed for the selected disclosure type(s). 

   

3. Select the appropriate response, Yes, No, or N/A for each question. 
4. Enter supporting information in the Additional Details field if required. 

5. Select Submit to continue the assessment process.

   📝 Notes

   • Questions displayed in the Exception Analysis section vary based on the selected disclosure type.
   • Users can select multiple disclosure types to evaluate incidents involving more than one disclosure method.
   • If multiple disclosure types are selected, users must select the appropriate response, Yes, No, or N/A, for each applicable question across all selected disclosure types.

   

6. After selecting Submit, a confirmation message is displayed based on the Exception Analysis scoring outcome configured in the DBRA Scorecard.

   1. If the responses meet the configured exception criteria, the Exceptions May Apply message is displayed, indicating that no further DBRA action may be required. Users can select Save & Close to save the assessment and exit the workflow.

      

   2. If the responses indicate that the exception criteria were not met, the Data Breach Risk Assessment Required message is displayed, indicating that additional breach assessment review is required. Users can select Continue to proceed with the DBRA assessment workflow.

      

      📝 Notes

      • Assessment outcome messages are determined by the scoring and threshold rules configured in the DBRA Scorecard.
      • Example: Exception scoring values configured by administrators determine whether the assessment can be closed or requires additional DBRA review.
      • If Continue is selected, refer to the DBRA Evaluation & Results article for details on completing the assessment and reviewing the final results.
