Modules are the building blocks of courses in the Training Center and contain the individual training components, such as videos, SCORM packages, documents, assessments, and surveys. This article explains how to create and add modules to courses to deliver structured and effective training content.

Create a Module for a Course
Follow these steps to create a Module:

Create a new course or navigate to an existing course in the main Content tab to add modules.
Note: Modules can also be created independently of a course. Click Create a Module from the main Content tab (shown in the image above), then proceed directly to Step 3. - From the course Content section, click the Add Modules button to begin adding modules to the course.

Select how you want to add content to the course by choosing from the following options in the pop-up window. The options are Upload, Create, and Browse. See more about each option below:

Upload: Supported file types can be uploaded by dragging and dropping files into the box, or by clicking the Choose a file button and searching for the file on your computer.
Accepted File Types & Limits:- Video: .avi, .wmv, .mpg, .mov, .flv, .m4v, .mp4 (up to 1 GB)
- Audio: .mp3 (up to 100 MB)
- PowerPoint: .ppt, .pptx (up to 30 MB; widescreen not supported: convert to PDF)
- Word: .doc, .docx (up to 30 MB)

SCORM/AICC: .zip (up to 500 MB)
Note: For offline SCORM viewing, SCORM 1.2 format is required.

Create: Create new, in-app content using the available module types. See more about this option in the next section Creating In-App Content for Courses.

Browse: Select from existing modules in your library to add to your course.
- Search for existing modules by name and/or module type.
- Check the box next to the module you want to add.
- Click the Add Modules button when you have checked the box next to the module.

Select the Copy option to add the module into the course when prompted.
Note: The Browse option is available only when adding modules within a course and is not available when creating modules independently. See step 1 for more information.

Create In-App Content for Courses
When you select Create option from above, you can build in-app content using one of the following module types:
- Assessment: Create an assessment using multiple-choice, keyword, and free-text or essay-style questions.
- Survey: Build a survey with a mix of question types to measure course effectiveness or gather learner feedback.
- Page of Information: Create a text-based page or a more advanced page using HTML.

Live Session or ILT: Track and manage instructor-led training sessions, including classroom and webinar-based learning.
Note: This option is available only to Premium Training Center clients. - User Checklist: Allow learners to check off required items or enable administrators to evaluate learner progress.
- Embed: Embed publicly available content from external websites, such as YouTube or SlideShare.
- Link to Another Website: Display content from another website within your account using an iFrame.

Learner Upload Module: Allow learners, or administrators on their behalf, to upload files. Each module supports up to three files, with a maximum size of 250 MB per file. Refer to the Learner Upload Module article for more details.
After selecting a module type, follow the prompts to create the content. For additional guidance, refer to the Litmos Help Articles for Modules PDF linked at the bottom of this page, for detailed instructions on creating each module type.
Important Notes
After modules are created, you can:
- Make a module optional using the slider.
- Edit module settings using the pencil icon.
