The File tab provides access to document-level actions and settings in the Document Editor. From the File tab, users can manage document information, save or print documents, download files, and access additional document settings based on available permissions.
To access the File tab functionality:
- Click the File tab located in the top-left corner of the editor.
- Select the required option from the left-side panel.
Save a Document
Use the Save option to manually save the latest changes made to the document.
Steps to Save a Document:
- Open the document in the Document Editor.
- Click the File tab from the top toolbar.
- Select Save. The document will be saved in the current format and location.
- Documents may save automatically without requiring manual action.
- You can also quickly save the document using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + S.
Download a Document
Use the Download as option to download a copy of the document to your device.
Steps to Download a Document:
- Open the File tab.
- Click Download as.

Select the required file format:
- DOCX, PDF, ODT
- DOTX, PDF/A, OTT
- MD, RTF, TXT, FB2, EPUB, HTML
- JPG, PNG
- The file will be downloaded to your device.
Print a Document
Use the Print option to print the current document.
Steps to Print a Document:
- Open the File tab.
- Click Print.
- Select the required printer.

Configure the print settings, such as:
- Orientation - Choose Portrait or Landscape page layout.
- Pages - Print all pages, current page, odd/even pages, or specify custom page numbers.
- Colour Mode - Print in colour or black and white, depending on the selected printer.
- Paper Size - Select the required paper size from the available options.
- Scale - Adjust the document's scale to fit the page, or set a custom scale.
- Pages per Sheet - Print multiple pages on a single sheet.
- Margins - Use default, custom, or no page margins.
- Headers and Footers - Choose whether to print them.
- System Dialog - Open the system print dialog for additional printer settings.
- Click Print.
- Print settings and available printers depend on your system configuration.
- You can quickly open the print settings window using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + P.
Protect a Document
The Protect a Document option allows users to secure documents with a password to prevent unauthorized access. Users must enter the correct password to open and view the protected document contents.
Document Info
The Document Info option allows users to view document details, review document statistics, and manage document properties such as author name, title, tags, subject, and comments.
Version History
The Version History option allows users to review previous document versions and track changes over time, including version details, editor information, and modification timestamps.
