This article outlines the steps needed to assign key roles within an incident, including the Incident Investigator, responsible for reviewing and analyzing the report; the Final Approver, who ensures that all findings and actions are properly validated; and the Legal Manager, who oversees compliance and legal considerations.
Assigning Investigator(s)
An Investigator is responsible for reviewing incidents, gathering details, and documenting findings. In Compliance Manager, you can assign one or more Investigators to ensure timely and accurate incident resolution.
Follow these steps to start assigning Incident Investigators:
- On the Incident Details page, click on the More Options icon and select Assign Investigator(s). The Assign Investigator(s) page will be displayed.
- Select the desired employee to assign the incident for further investigation.
- Click Next. The Assign Investigation Due Date page appears.
- Select the review period by choosing either the number of days or a specific date using the relevant fields.
- Click Save to assign an Investigator. A confirmation message will appear, and the details of the selected employee will be updated as the Investigator on the Incident Details page.
Edit Due Date
Follow these steps to edit the assign Investigator Due Date:
- Hover over the More Options icon next to the investigator's name and select Edit Due Date.

Enter the number of DAYS TO REVIEW or choose a date from the REVIEW BY DATE field, then click Save.
ℹ️ NotesWhen assigning multiple investigators, the Days to Review and Review By Date settings apply to all selected users. To assign different due dates, add investigators individually.
Remove Investigator
Follow these steps to remove the Investigator:
- Hover over the More Options icon next to the investigator's name and select Remove Investigator.
- Check the box to acknowledge the warning message and click Remove Investigator.
Assign a Final Approver
The Final Approver validates the investigation’s findings and ensures that all actions are complete before closing the incident.
- Only one Final Approver can be assigned to an incident.
- The system automatically sets the Final Approver task due date to two days after the Investigation Due Date.
- If the investigation is completed after the due date, the Final Approver task due date is automatically updated to two days after the investigation completion date.
- An email notification is sent to the assigned Final Approver once all investigation tasks are completed.
Follow these steps to start assigning a Final Approver:
- On the Incident Details page, click on the More Options icon and select Assign Final Approver. The Assign Final Approver page will be displayed.
- Select the employee you want to assign the incident to as the approver.
- Click Save. A confirmation message will appear, and the selected employee's details will be updated as the Final Approver on the Incident Details page.
Remove a Final Approver
- To remove the current Final Approver, click the X next to the employee’s name.

Check the box to acknowledge the warning message, then click Remove Final Approver.
Assigning a Legal Manager
The Legal Manager provides oversight on compliance and legal considerations, ensuring incidents are handled in line with regulatory requirements.
Follow these steps to assign a Legal Manager to an Incident:
- Navigate to the desired incident Edit Incident Details page.
- Scroll to the Mark Incident as Privileged field and turn it on.
- Select Assign Legal Manager, choose the relevant Legal Manager, and click Add Selected.
- Click Update Incident to save the Legal Manager assignment. The Legal Manager field will then appear at the top of the page, displaying the name of the assigned Legal Manager.
