The purpose of linking incidents is to connect related or duplicate incidents for easier tracking and resolution. This article helps you link incidents from the incident detail page, view linked records, and manage them efficiently.
This article details the following:
Linking Incidents
Follow these steps to link an incident(s):
- Navigate to the Incident Queue page and select the incident to which you want to link a related incident.
- On the Incident Details page, hover over the more options ellipsis at the top right and select Link Incidents.
- The Link Incidents window will appear with a list of available incidents. Choose the desired Incident from the list.
- Click Link Incidents to link the selected incidents. A confirmation message will be displayed.
- Once incidents are linked, a Link Incidents section appears at the top right of the incident detail header. Use the dropdown to view all linked incidents.
Please Note:
-
The Linked Incidents section on the incident detail page appears only when incidents have been linked.
-
To view a linked incident, click its incident ID (blue text) and then select the screenshot icon. The incident will open in a new browser tab.
-
Linking one incident to multiple incidents does not automatically link them all together. For example, if incident #244 is linked to incident #1, #4, and #7, only incident #244 will display all these links. Incident #1 will only show a link to #244.
Editing Linked Incidents
Follow these steps to editing linked incident.
- Navigate to the Incident Queue page and select the incident to which you want to edit a linked incident.
- On the Incident Details page, hover over the more options ellipsis at the top right and select Edit Linked Incidents.
-
To unlink, uncheck the box next to the incident(s) and click Edit Linked Incidents at the bottom of the window. You can also select additional incidents to link at the same time.
