The Protection tab provides tools for securing documents and controlling how users interact with document content. Users can encrypt documents with a password to prevent unauthorized access or apply editing restrictions to control what changes can be made within a document.
Access the Protection Tab
Follow the steps below to access the protection tools.
- Open a document in the Healthicity Document Editor.
- Click the Protection tab.

Encrypt a Document
The Encrypt feature secures a document by requiring a password before it can be opened.
To Encrypt a Document:
- Click Protection → Encrypt.
- Enter a password.
- Re-enter the password for confirmation.
- Click OK.
- Save the document.
- The document is encrypted and requires a password to open.

Protect a Document
The Protect Document feature restricts how users can edit a document. Protection settings can optionally be secured with a password.
To Protect a Document:
- Click Protection → Protect Document.
- Select the desired editing restriction.
- Optionally enter a password.
- Confirm the password.
- Click Protect.
- The selected restrictions are applied to the document.

Available Editing Restrictions
Restriction |
Description |
| No Changes (Read Only) | Prevent all document modifications. |
| Filling Forms | Allow users to complete only form fields. |
| Tracked Changes | Allow edits while requiring change tracking. |
| Comments | Allow users to add comments without modifying document content. |
Remove Document Protection
If document protection was applied with a password, the password is required to remove the protection.
To Remove Protection:
- Open the protected document.
- Click Protection → Protect Document.
- Enter the password, if prompted.
- Remove the protection settings.
- Save the document. The document restrictions are removed.
- Use Encrypt when document access should be limited to authorized users.
- Save the document after applying protection settings to ensure the changes take effect.
