Time-Based Coding and Prolonged Services

Within the time-based coding section of the audit box, there is an option for 2021 Time-Based Coding. This also provides the option for auditing prolonged services.

Step 1.
Select 'Time-Based Coding' within the audit box.

Step 2.
Select 'New Patient' or 'Established Patient.'

Step 3.
Select 'AMA Standard' or 'CMS Standard' and enter the amount of time. The system will suggest a code(s) depending upon what was entered for a time.

Note: If you would like to set a default for the AMA Standard or CMS Standard, perform the following steps.

1. Navigate to 'Admin' and 'Manage Audit Settings.'

2. Within the guideline, navigate to the 'Audit Parameters/Guidelines.'

3. Under the 'Prolonged Services Default,' select 'AMA' or 'CMS'
